I bought most of my current setup around 1999 and the TEAC was one of my last purchases. Well some cables came a bit later.
Now one of my interests is another try to find a DAC for improving SQ of the TEAC. In the past this never worked out, I had the chance trying several DACs but none of them really could improve the TEAC in the end. Some of them made the TEAC sounding a bit warmer or a little more laid back but instruments sounded not really true anymore. In this direction the TEAC always was the winner for me and my friends, who did auditions with me.
Well this was maybe 10 years ago since I gave up searching for a DAC but technology have changed since those days and I will try again. Actually I have a direction I want trying, but that´s another story ...
Another interest is saving lifetime for the TEAC as I heard laser-pickups for this machine are not available anymore. This means not going with an additional CD-Player but I will save the TEAC for certain moments when I really want to listen to CDs, other than that I will buy my first audio-player for FLAC files. But have to admit I have no real knowledge on these machines beside searching and trying to understand this technology since some weeks.
