Are there any other lovers of the Japanese made and designed hifi gear? If so, which gear and what about it gets your fancy?

Pioneer VSX 912 receiver.  Excellent as a preamp, good as an amp if used with 8 ohm and above speakers.  There was a big thread on it here on AC.  They run about $100 on eBay.

Yamaha NS500 speakers.

Beryllium dome tweeter; big woofer...amazing sound. Sadly, I sold them to my sister in 1989. She gave them to a friend a few years later.  :(

I have a Luxman DA-06 DAC, great build quality and great sound.  I also have a vintage Luxman T-110 tuner.  Again, beautiful piece.  I still have my vintage Technic's integrated amp from 1976.  Still works like a champ.

I also like Marantz and vintage Sansui and Pioneer

There's a few things out there. I'm not really familiar, I just see stuff sometimes.

Yamaha makes good quality good sounding durable AVRs.  Currently using a Aventage RX-A3010 as a pre-pro for my multi-channel rig as well as the internal AVR amp for my presence speakers.

Wow that Micro! Drool worthy. I was able to score a Kenwood L-07D at a New York City shop back in 1990 for $750, but the arm VTA adjust or gears were frozen. Still it was a score and I loved it.

Oh no, I suppose that's the last you heard of their existence.
