Hi Res downloads in Canada
« on: 19 Mar 2016, 02:21 pm »
Hi there

What sites are people using in Canada for Hi Res downloads? I seem to run into copyright issues with some of the US sites, such as HD tracks.

I have a ton of MP3 stuff, mainly in iTunes and from a few years ago when I ripped my CD collection. Sadly, most of my CD's were given away. Would very much like to use my BDP1-USB and BDA 2 DAC to their full capability by upgrading my collection.

Thanks in advance

Joel

Unfortunately like you I encounter the same road blocks on HDTracks and Acoustic Sounds. Apparently it's not HDTracks perse blocking us it's the record labels and Canadian policies. No wonder the music industry is in such a state. We are willing customers saying here take our money but are told our money is no good.

I have a few friends who pay for VPN services where you can login under whatever countries IP you want and they can make purchases from HDTRacks, etc. that way. I'm yet to give that a try. One thing I'm told is once on the VPN your Internet speed takes a nose dive so downloading the songs takes much longer vs the songs you can normally get at.

www.prostudiomasters.com

Out of Montreal - Cdn funds!

I've also heard that Pono has a Canadian link although I've not verified the amount of hi-rez software (files over 16/44) they are offering...

Thanks Guys. I will look into these although the selection is not great.

Hopefully they can sort out royalties someday.

I was just going to say to try a VPN site.   I use it for Netflix so i can get US netflix.   I imagine it would work the same for HDtracks, etc.    I use unblockus which is about $50 CAD a year.  Not bad considering how much use I get from it.
