Another yes vote here.  Don't know if the realization will be good or bad of course, but it looks elegant and simple, and it seems like a perfect marriage of marketing and production values.  I hope it's a great success.

I don't know that I want a laser taking away the analog cutter EXCEPT for DMM.  I think I read somewhere that the cutter in Direct Metal Mastering can sometimes experience a little "drag" or let's say, more resistance than normal which eliminates some of the beneficial vibrations getting transferred to the blank.  The laser will not have any problem cutting the metal...  FULL DISCLOSURE....  That's something I read on the internet, so it's not worth the pixels it's written with until I hear a professional verify it.  I just thought it sounded plausible.

Where exactly is this additional info going to go?  With 4-ch the rear ch were encoded around 25 -35KHz and wore out if you looked at them wrong.  The analog groove is already continuous.  Lets chop it up and reform it into something new and better?  Maybe a pate'  ??
The analog record defines us.  We even put one on the side of an Apollo(?) space ship, giving Alien and Predator clear directions.  Cagey move.
I want to take that ride with Jody Foster to meet her dad.  I don't care if they believe me or not.  I know what you're thinkin.  Sometimes you can enjoy the ride without all the romantic stuff.
