About 50% of the work we do with them is neither lead free soldering
Is there an official date where the lead will be totally removed from solder? I read that lead free solder are harder to melt - can I just crank up the tempreture or I do need a new station & tip for it?
Like any tool you purchase buying something a little up market is often the best policy. It will do the job properly and continue to do the job for many years. Buying cheap tools almost always comes back to bite you on the ar.. er rear most part.
Totally agree. I currently using Goot soldering iron and they are quite good except I can't change tip or tempreture. The Hakko 936 ESD is what I have in mind and I really like their wide range of accessary.
I bought my Hakko 936 from Computronics over the Web about 6 months ago. Their service was prompt and everything arrived in Canberra in good condition.
I had one service problem: an email I sent with information they requested wasn't responded too and my purchase hadn't arrived. I rang them and they hadn't received the email but we sorted it out there and then and I got my goods soon thereafter.
Thanks for that Mark. Good to hear that they sort out the problem. Not like my purchase of SACD disc from AcousticSounds.com. They acknowledge my email but don't bother to reply or do anything. Guess they can afford to lost a customer.
As for soldering station, I'll make the order as soon as my cheque arrive.
Cheers,
Sam
