I just finished reading this article at Motherboard: http://motherboard.vice.com/read/why-are-we-still-listening-to-music-in-two-dimensions

It seems virtual reality is likely to drive technical changes on the audio side of things and make lifelike 3-D music technically possible without requiring numerous speakers and an inflexible listening position. Since so many audiophiles pursue this hobby to recreate the you-are-there experience, this trend would seem to be a good thing. But maybe I'm missing something.

What's your perspective?
