Hi Uppercut, I have an almost whole collection of the Speaker Builder mags. and several books that deal with sealed and vented enclosures. Your welcome to any info about that subject I can dig up for you. My favorite speakers and still are are the Dynacos from the 1970's. 3 models were both sealed and vented. The A-35, A-50, and the A-40XL my favorite pair I had to sell when I was broke. They all had a vent inside stuffed with fiberglass and held in by some heavy duty screen secured in the wood which made them vented but (Aperiodic) as Dyna called it. The vent went to a sealed chamber within the whole speaker cabinet making them sealed and vented. I have an article in Speaker Builder about that process that I could help you with.I have to go to work right now but would be glad to share any info I have to help your project......Mark Korda (kordamark@gmail.com) or 207-632-1648, I'm up all hours...Mark.
I don't have a contribution, but I wonder what you mean by sealed and vented. Are you talking about the kind of configuration like the old kef 104|2 with a vented chamber at the front of the sealed woofers flanking it?
4th order isobaric enclosure?A sealed rear chamber with the sub in the middle, usually facing the ported chamber?I built such a sub for my old Accord about 10 years ago.Doubt that is it though!
The one I’m thinking of and which I have to 98% finished designing is interactive between both to get and use the best of both worlds (Sealed & Vented) for sound my reproduction.
I'm unable to visualize what you're describing, but obviously it's clear in your mind. Any chance you could post a scan of a sketch or something like that?
But at this point in time I will not part with to much info sorry as I'm still myself try to find more details of this quiet unusual build technique.
Okay, but I'm a bit confused. It looks like you asked for help, but don't want to reveal just what you want help with. I have some experience designing speaker systems which use multiple compartments that can be either sealed or vented. Let me know if you have a specific question and I'll try to answer it.
I like that you are Interested in this and I can ensure you it is very Interesting, but sorry to say you are wrong in your assumtion that a sealed enclosure compartment is either sealed or not!
I was referring to designs of my own; I make no assumptions about what you are doing. I have designs with multiple compartments that can be either sealed or vented. Plug the ports, that compartment is sealed. Remove the plugs, that compartment is vented.
