new member introduction

Howdy Pardeners. It was suggested that I introduce myself to the Circle. I have acquired a few components recently and felt the need for some schooling, particularly on the turntable; a Thorens TD150 with original arm (no antiskate feature). It came with no cartridge. About five or six weeks ago I also purchased a used Outlaw Audio RR2150 receiver for $300.00. Well..........anyways, I guess that's as good an introduction as any. I already posted with a few questions about the Thorens. Excited to be on board. Mick

Greetings & Welcome to AC Mick  :thumb:  The RR2150 is a solid unit, only issue I've in 10 years was the volume control motor, which I recently got fixed & they brought the whole unit up to new stats. You'll undoubtedly get some input on the Thorens. I dug out my TD-160 MKII about 5 years ago, & it's going strong with the Grado G1+ I put on it when bought new 30+ years ago.  8)

Oh, sorry. Yes.... I have a pair of the Pioneer SP-BS22-LR. If you are familiar with them you will know they were quite inexpensive by most standards. I think I paid about $130 for them at BestBuy. I have not heard them yet because I have been waiting to get the front end of my system, which, of course, is now the Thorens TD150. Yes, my receiver has AM/FM but I have yet to find any decent radio stations in Saint Louis so far.

If you are in that neck of the woods you should check out the GAS folks,  http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?board=70.0. I'm sure Bob in St. Louis, Thunderbrick, or any of them can turn you onto some good radio stations.

OK. Sounds good. I could certainly use some help with assembling a system. I'll need to get an FM antenna. I've read somewhere that plain old rabbit ears from radio shack are the best other than installing an exterior antenna on my roof, which I don't see myself doing.
