The second type of partnership is RoonReady which is geared towards products that have network streaming capability which can then act as endpoints, which goes beyond the above. Essentially they would provide the RAAT software (Roon's streaming Technology) as an option for the streamer to use in addition to upnp or their own software. this allows the streamer to be seen as an endpoint by Roon which provides ability to do multiroom, synced streaming, etc and control the streaming from the Roon App. I do know there are Roon Ready devices currently available that are pretty cheap so I don't think there are any significant licensing costs to this, but that is just my guess. As far as support goes i can't answer that.
Every vendor wants their product to be the center
. I think we can send a DAC-9 (really doesn't matter if it is DAC-9 or DAC-10 as I suspect, see my comment below). Our top priority is to release Omnia by May at the High End show in Munich and production shipping in the summer. This will follow up with more Omnia related accessories such as docking station, powerful headphone amp and charger, etc.
I suspect that it is more of a marketing gimmick that there is a need to customise Roon for specific hardware. From what I can understand, their software detect the "capability" of our DAC, so that when a hi-res file is being played on their server that is connected to our DAC, the server will play the highest resolution. There couldn't be any other scientific possibility that they can do to customized for other DACs. If they do, they will be changing the sonic characteristic of the DAC. And it is highly unlikely that they can and should do that.
But all our DACs from $99 to $1795 all have 32-bit/384kHz decoding and DSD256
I will contact them to find out.
