sub pilot holes
« on: 21 Feb 2016, 02:42 pm »
Are the pilot holes for the subs able to be drilled after assembly? I don't have the subs yet.

Does everyone drill before they build?
Thanks.

I don't drill the pilot holes until I'm ready to mount the drivers.

Ben, I'm probably anal in this way, but I like to have drivers on hand and essentially mock things up as I go then dissemble and finish.  That being said, if I finished boxes before I had drivers, I'd still wait to drill pilots. This is where the repeatability of CNC in a real luxury but, well, an expensive one too.

Thanks for the responses.  I had a colleague's husband, who has a cnc router, cut all the pieces but the sides for my super v's.  I have the tops and wanted to build them out and wait for the subs.  But I know my drill will not get close enough to the edge of the sub box to make straight pilot holes.  Probably not a huge deal, but I didn't want to be dumb.

Thanks again.
