Snowcrash Soundwave panels- any left in US
« on: 26 Oct 2004, 04:32 pm »
I know that Snowcrash (Swedish design company)  is out of business, but their website said someone had purchased the rights to making these panels again.  Now their web site is gone.  here is a reference:

http://www.soundstage.com/planethifi/planethifi200311.htm

I have to do some room treatments and anything that does not look like art is pretty much out of the question as dictated by the wife.  Something minor like, "we have to use it as a living room too...."

I will be posting some pics with a plea for help soon.  I appreciate all the great tips that come from these circles.  thanks

I remember looking longingly at those funky wall treatments too, when I first Googled them, but have not heard of any, anywhere on our side of the pond...

I would certainly be interested, if they were available though.

The Swedish company that is offering the design is www.offecct.se

The site is a pain to navigate but you can see some pics and get some specs.  Not much though.

I have also looked at a few retails.  The only ones who have prices and the items on their site is www.lampamobler.com out of LA.

Has anyone used these and does anyone feel the Scrunch  would make a good first reflection point treatment?

thanks

Another idea is to get your hands on some compressed fiberglass frame it and cover it with acoutically transparent cloth or painting or tapestry.  You can even texture paint the panels.  A friend of mine did that in her dorm room aparment for looks not sound and it looked really cool.  Cheap too.

Can anyone tell if these numbers are any good?

Here is the gist of some details on the absorption characteristics of these type panels.  Can anyone put these into context with foam, fiberglass, hard fiberglass?  And would they be effective with early reflections?

The numbers below refer to something labeled Practical sound absorption coefficient.  I could not get hte graphs off the pdf to include in this post.

thanks
