A customer sent me this as an e-mail earlier today and thought I would share it with you guys:


Well, I finished my pair of A/V-3's a few months ago (after building the other two pairs for my friends). Mine now have about 200 hours of play time on them and they continue to perform very impressively. They achieve a remarkably satisfying balance between detail, warmth and Oomph. I recently took them to a high-end british audio shop and played them against ProAc, Cyrus and Neat (all in the $3-6K range), and I actually preferred the A/V-3's. The owner of the shop preferred the Neat speaks, but had to admit that the A/V-3's performed very well.
 
I have included some photos of my pair (cross-cut cherry veneer and mahogany edging). I used a lighter stain on mine than on the two previous pairs. You will note my bizarre bi-wiring connectors and plate on the back of the speakers. The bolts used are specially made of 98% pure copper, and are normally only available to power companies for high-voltage applications. This is a much cheaper way to use "pure" copper binding posts without paying a fortune for them.

Here's another happy customer.  I'll be posting a full review on another forum where I'm a reviewer/moderator.  This is my quote from another forum:

"I have to admit that I was dubious about how good these speakers would sound, being used to listening to various speakers that cost 5-10 times as much. However, I was amazed by the clarity and detail the A/V-3s provide, especially after break-in. Easily equal to or better than speakers selling for $2-3K in many instances."

Here are a few pictures of mine.  Thanks to Hank for his advise on rosewood and how to finish it.  This was my first speaker building project and first use of a router and veneer.  I've just started on the A/V-RS surrounds
