Susheel's SoundScape 8-Be's in white

Susheel wanted a pair of SoundScape 8's but he had a few custom requests.

First off, he wanted to know if we could produce a pair using beryllium tweeters as opposed to our standard RAAL tweeter.  Of course we said yes.

He also wanted the drivers centered, he requested chamfered edges rather than rounded edges and he wanted outriggers instead of our standard plinth.  Of course, we said yes to all of these requests.  Finally, he wanted them in high-gloss, hand-rubbed white.

Here are the results...

Here is an FR plot of the results...

Happy listening Susheel!

Good for you, Susheel!

We seem to be in the minority, but some of us do prefer dome tweeters!

Very nice, look forward to your listening impressions.  I've thought about doing this with the SilkTower to create SilkTower Be's.

Jim-as long as we're on the topic of modding the SS8s, is there a soft midrange that would work in there?

I'm sure we could find a soft midrange that would work just fine.  Are you talking about a dome midrange or simply an alternative to the Accuton.  When we started working on the original SoundScape 12's, we did some test versions with quite a few different midrange drivers.  Some of them were very nice.

I was thinking alternatives to the Accuton.

Very stunning finish. :thumb: I've the same outriggers on my SS8 and they are very sturdy.

I really like RAAL but curious about why would one choose Beryllium over RAAL? How do they compare to RAAL?

It is interesting comparing this FR chart with the standard configuration FR chart.

They are very beautiful looking speakers.

I too am curious to hear what the sonic differences are between the RAAL Ribbon Tweeter versus the Dome alternative.
