G'day from Australia
« on: 26 Jan 2016, 02:55 am »
Hi everyone,

I've recently been introduced to Bryston (and am seriously impressed!).
I'm about to start building a dedicated listening room in my house; looks like Bryston might be the way to go...

Best wishes,

Tom

Tom,

Welcome.

A dedicated room is a very smart first step.  Most audiophiles severely hamper their system enjoyment with rooms that are too small, oddly shaped, or have to deal with any number of domestic limitations.

Bigger is better, but only until the shape gets "weird".  Read Floyd Toole's "Sound Reproduction" for good advice for room shape.  Before finding Toole I followed Cardas for setup and room shape (near to the standard Greek golden rectangle with ratios of 5:8 ) which fits into Toole's advice and seems to work well.  Just avoid simple ratios like 1:2 or 1:3 to reduce echo.  Insulation is critical too in which attention to detail is critical.

Hi Tom,

I recently purchased a Bryston BD-1 and I'm very impressed with its sound quality and build.  I haven't heard their other products but if the BD-1 is anything to go by I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Btw I live in Perth, W.A. and I've used the information gained from Audiocircle to buy some really good equipment.

Cheers Rod
