Do you return for a replacement?  It plays but I swear that slight warp bothers me to no end.

You can't return it because of a slight warp, only for really bad ones. It's pretty common for records to not be perfectly straight (especially with heavier 150g-200g vinyl) and for the spindle hole be slightly off-center. If the warps really bother you, you can get this:

and you can re-drill slightly off center spindle holes.

My experience is that if it plays, I do not attempt to return it. I have had LPs that were warped so badly they would not play without throwing the needle from the groove. The vendor has kindly replaced these titles for me without having to return the defective LP.

Many warped discs will play just fine. Life's too short to hassle over a disc that will play, eventhough it may not appear ruler flat.

Just this man's opinion. YMMV.

There is no perfect record. If it bothers you, try to send it back, but its the nature of vinyl.

Haven't been placed by seven warps. What bothers me is pulling a new 180 Audiophile pressing (Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here) and have it loaded with ticks and pops right out of the sleeve!

  • The elephant normally IS the room
Replace it with hi-res download.

Back in college we sat warped vinyl on a warm window sill and then stacked books on it.

I believe your in the NVA area.  Come by our shop & we'll flatten it on our fancy $2,500 Furutech DF-2 lp flattener !

http://www.furutech.com/2013/02/02/1790/

Total cycle takes about 3hrs - 1.5 to heat, 1.5 to cool - but it's very effective.

PM me if you want directions - or visit www.commandav.com for info and directions.

That goes for all you other DC area AC'ers w/ warped records as well!

Never had an issue returning warped LPs. Just sucks doing so. The Furutech unit is amazing and works perfectly. Archer that is sweet of you to offer your unit.
When I buy now I insist on the vendor opening the cover and LOOKING at it for defects, since I refused to pay for shipping back.  So far no more warped LPs.

This is what I do to warped records.

I'm only joking. So far none of the warped LPs have been unplayable, but I wish I could find a shop or someone willing to let me use that awesome flattener. Anyone know of a place in Florida?

Shawn of the Dead, great scene. "Not that one, it's my Blue Monday!"

Oh, I use the Vinyl Flat with mixed results and play the warped ones on my periphery ring/center clamp VPI. Gotta have TWO turntables, no matter what!
