I found this site becuase of the Well Tempered TT Circle.......nice to see a bunch of devotees to the Well Tempered TT & Well Damped arm.
Recently relocated to the Philadelphia area, so had to tear-down the rig and reassemble after the move some renovations. It's been slow going, and I have encounter problems with mover damage to turntable and cart', as well as maintenance to aging electronics. And I'm still sorting things out and dealing some pesky hum in the system, that is probably attributable to grounding issues. The main system is discreet 2-channel w/ CD/DAC or Turntable, but I use the 2-channel rig as the main front stereo of the AV 6.1 surround sound rig. It works well....except for that pesky ground/hum. I listen to all kinds of music, but gravitate toward Classical, Fusion, and avant-garde jazz. Technical Metal, folk, country, and film-score does make me happy also....basically if is well written and well performed, I'll pay attention.
The basic 2-channel rig is as follows:
• PreAmp: ARC SP-9
• Amp: Mark Levinson No.27
• Speakers: Vandersteen 2Ce
• Turntable: Well-Tempered Classic w/ Well Damped Arm & Marigo mods & modified Thompson Seismic Sink
• Cartridge: Sumiko Blackbird (2.5mV) – recently bought from Stereo Exchange to replace a trashed Sumiko Blue Point Special
• CD-transport: Enlightened Audio CD-1000
• DAC: Enlightened Audio DSP-7000 with Noble Electronics mods
• Cabling: MIT & Kimber
• Room: Basement room install w/ tile over concrete flooring
• Power: Still sorting this out, but using Furman & Monster Power treatment boxes
I'm considering that I will need to move toward a smaller rig upon retirement in 5-7 years, so I am beginning to read about music-server-DAC kits. There is a lot to learn!
