Welcome from Owosso, Mi.  I've been into stereo/audio for 40+ years an d will always have tastes that exceed my budget.

BTW currently in two audio clubs out of westside of metro Detroit and Lansing.  Let me know if you're interested in attending a meeting.

Hi to all you Michigan guys. My hometown is South Haven, a great small town. I still miss the lake and the beach where I spent most of my summers during my childhood. So far, no skin cancer.

I have a buddy here named Bob Bushong who's from Owosso. Must be about your age.

hi... just another guy with champagne audio tastes and a beer budget...
Welcome to AC.  I'm originally from Indiana, but out on the left coast now.

Your statement really took me back.... I think I had something like $50 for a receiver and speakers in 1977.  I dragged my Mom and Dad around to every discount place to find something with my minimum specs--20W/channel and 3-way speakers--remember back then all electronics measured the same, so they all were the same.  Ended up with a Harmon-Kardon receiver and KLH speakers.  Adding a $10 AR turntable about 6 months later, along with a Discwasher and I was in fat city!  Anyway, through the whole experience, my Mom kept telling me that I had "champagne taste on a beer budget".  Guess what, I still do!  Ok, so it's better beer, but still...

I remember my first receiver was a MCS from JC Penney's because my sister just got her first credit card.  I had half the money and paid her back the rest.   Didn't have any hifi stores so it was MCS or LXI from Sears.  Which reminds me my first cassette deck was a LXI, with wired remote  :thumb:
My first TT was a Hitachi linear tracker LL-305 or something.  All upgraded from a soundesign all in one unit.  Oh, speakers were Sansui S-520.
The good ol days when I was satisfied with an upgrade for more than a month.
