Fpr those who wanted a picture of the Summit Interconnects, here you go.

I will be adding these to the website shortly.

This photo was taken at Turk's place today. I thought the Mac made a great background

The BOLDER Summit Interconnects are finally listed on the BOLDER website and are available for order.

BOLDER Summit Interconnects

Just about everyone who has listened to these interconnects has ended up buying a pair.

Tyson has compared them to his Nitros with Bybee inside here: Nitro/Summit comparison

Marbles recently compared three interconnects and stated: "All three are very close in performance and sound qualities. On an absolute basis I like the Summits the best, followed closely by the Silver MKII's, followed closely by the Pulsars. ... the Summits are the closest thing to not having IC's in my system that I've heard. "

mgalusha said: "I need to get your cables back to you as well, much as I don't want to.  I really like the new Summit IC's.

mike" (He ended up getting a pair anyway :) )

Finally Turk comments:"I am listening to Wayne's latest interconnect, a pair I purchased at the show. WOW! The Nitro and Nitro Bybee versions are excellent, but the new wire is better than anything else I have heard in my system. Placed between Denon and preamp it is a definite step up. I agree completely with Tyson's evaluation. "

Like all BOLDER Cables, the Summits are broken in before shipping on the Audio Dharma Cable Cooker. They are shipped to you sealed within metallized polyester film laminated to anti-static, low density polyethylene bags that provide "Faraday Cage" like static protection.

Hello Wayne,
Congrats on your new cable !![/list:u]Question...if I don't know something...I ask:

low density polyethylene bags that provide "Faraday Cage" like static protection
....what is "Faraday Cage" ? Thanks !! :)

Hmmmm, while I certainly know what one is, I can't figure out how to explain it very well.

Maybe if I go grab lunch I can think better and actually describe it to you.

Or, maybe someone else might be able to do a better job while I'm procuring lunch...

"A Faraday cage is an enclosure with no apertures (holes, slits, windows or doors) made of a perfectly conducting material. No electric fields are produced within the Faraday cage by the incidence of external fields upon it or by currents flowing on the perfect conductor; that is, the perfectly conducting enclosure is a perfect electromagnetic shield. If no electrical energy sources are within the Faraday cage, then there will be no electric fields within, since none can penetrate the conducting enclosure. "

I've heard of this but thought it was called a 'Kabuki Box' sp?  or something like that.  Is that a completely different thing or did someone just make this up?

Anyway, that's great news that the Summits have 'topped' the other cables.  Will there be a 'matching' speaker cable?

My only knowledge of Kabuki is as a form of Japanese theater.

The description I posted earlier is of a theoretical Faraday Cage. The bags I use are not a perfect conductor, but they do the job in isolating the cable from the outside electrical fields.

I am thinking about speaker cable. It will take some time to work out and it will be fairly expensive.

A minor correction to the definition of a Faraday cage: It isn't that the cage cannot have holes, many do, just that the size of the holes must be smaller than the wavelength of EM you wish to block.

Of course, the point of an anti-static bag is actually to slowly allow electricity to flow, preventing the buildup of a static charge that would damage the component contained inside.  Since the bag in conductive for this reason, it does also work like a faraday cage, but I fail to see how exposure to an EM field would damage the cable.

The use of the bag is not to prevent damage to the cable.

This does border on the edge of the belief system of cable break-in. I happen to feel that break-in does shappen. I have invested in an Audio Dharma Cable Cooker and all cables that I make are put on it before shipping.

I heard back from some of my customers that the cables still needed some break-in after I started using it. Bob Crump has stated that shipping the cables in a "Farady Cage" type enviroment will take care of this problem. I started using the bags and received no more complaints. I have no measurements to back this up, just happy customers.

Good to hear the reasoning Wayne.  If there was any difference, it seems more likely that this was due to static buildup in a normal, insulating bag rather than a Farraday cage effect.  Either way, I'm just injecting some additional science into the discussion.

And, by the way, audio benefits aside, the bags look cool!  While platic, they have a nice silver/metallic sheen to them.

I took the ECU out of my car once to get it upgraded by an aftermarket mad scientist (Jim Conforti, a genius with BMW ECUs) and we shipped it in a similar bag to make sure it didn't get damaged by static electricity while in transit.
