Turntable deal
« on: 7 Jan 2016, 02:49 am »
I often keep on the lookout for good used equipment even if I'm not looking for myself.  Lately, prices are generally very high for the good stuff.
This looks like a bargain:

Assuming this is working properly, with a great cart and a little tweaking, IMO it will easily outperform a new $1K table.

Thanks for the tip neo.  :thumb:  Sadly it's more like 2400 miles from here, so local pickup isn't really an option. But keep 'em coming.

Looks pretty sweet for somebody that can get there.  If I didn't have a VPI coming this weekend I'd be saying "road trip" neo.  It's not all that far for us is it?

Oops, didn't notice that.  Long ride from S Jersey, but doable I guess.   Not sure where that town is, but round trip would probably be 10/12 hours.  Sometimes you have to work for that cheap and cheerful deal.   :wink:

Did see a couple of interesting pieces.   Something to idle away the hours?

Need an arm?

That's < $1300 US.  A new arm wand probably costs as much.

Wow Neo, you're like our own personal shopper!  That Lenco is very tempting, as is the Victor!  Hmmm...I do have an extra channel on that new phono stage that's coming  :green:

With the Lenco you should make sure of the electricity it was made for (50 or 60Hz).   There are lots of 50Hz machines in the US and dealing with it looks like a PIA.  Lenco forum has all the info.

The Victor (JVC) QL-Y7 was not the top model, but still a very nice spinner.  I believe it is a TT-71 with a motorized servo arm with resonance control.

The Kenny 7010 and 7700 are good tables, similar to my 770d, but with S arms and replaceable headshells.  Excellent.

There's a Kenny 1100:

This is like a 990 with a steel chassis.  Kenwood had different model numbers for Japanese and export product.   Beautiful tables with end of record lift.

I just checked and the Lenco is sold.  You know what they say, if you snooze you lose.

I'm having to sell off my analog front end and records to pay my property taxes.  I've advertised to my local audio club but all of those cats are old as me and have all their bases covered already.  Some records I've been using for demo purposes and am selling are:

For classical, Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances on Reference Recordings with Eiji Oue conducting the Minnesota Orchestra and a huge recording it is yet with delicate intimacy recorded by Keith Johnson and Karl Orff's Der Mond on Philips for soundstaging with singers appearing all over and beyond the front end of my room.  Also, Mark Levinson's Volume One on his own label for vocal purity (choral) and you-are-thereness;

For jazz, "A Night in Tunisia" from Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers on a Philips direct-to-disc recording made in Tokyo in '78 with a sextet for balls-to-the-wall blowing and unfettered dynamics;

And the ladies for vocal purity, Chris Conner Live and an Irene Kral date, Gentle Rain.

I have many albums you can select from should you visit and feel free to bring some of your own for de-moing.  I'm in the Houston area 832-446-7036.  Click on "systems

My analog front end consists of a Micro Seiki 91 belt drive Rosewood table with a Jelco 750SDB 10" arm housing a Koetsu Black moving coil cartridge.  I have two of the latter tho one is in need of re-tipping something "Soundsmith" can do for you for around $200.  The former is a first edition designed by the old man himself.  The latter is a much more recent edition.  I can include a Hagerman "Bugle Boy" phono pre.  I am necessarily looking for $2700.00 plus shipping.  Phone: 832-442-7036 (Houston, Texas).  Records and/or cabinets sold separately.

Yep and I didn't have time this morning to run it to ground.

Darn.  I already had it in my head to knock-of Halcro's ultra-cool looking marble plinth/tonearm pods.

That truly sucks, Jim! :evil:

Hopefully someone worthy can make you whole on it.  I keep toying with the idea of getting another rig set up, but I need to focus on getting mine running first!

Jim,
Sorry to hear it.  Wish there was something I could do.   Did you list your stuff in the Trading Post?
Hope everything works out.

Best regards,
neo
