Very neat, given it's age I kinda thought you would shy away from a hardware update. This continues to show Bryston's commitment to their products, very nice.

So what's up next in the pipeline James? I know you had mentioned not to long ago about looking into getting the SP3 to accept above 44.1/16 via the USB. Is that still being looked into? I assume it would never accept DSD?? That would probably be a more substantial hardware upgrade and I suspect not worth it and would be something that would make more sense in the next platform when I suspect Atmos, dts:X and possibly Auro may make an appearance in a limited 16 channel or less configuration.

My WISHLIST

Bryston SP4 Dirac Live Atmos DTS X Auro 3D   9.2.6  all for 10K MSRP....I know dream on!!

James

Was the CES room not big enough to properly set up the Model T's?

Or was your main focus showing  the Mini T's

Yes the main focus was on the Mini T's.

The Model T's sounded terrific in that room but I find at shows if you set up a small speaker like the Mini T's peoples expectation of how a small speaker is capable of sounding is radically changed as a result of listening to a Mini T.

The response we get is priceless  :thumb:  They are really surprised at how big and open they sound and the expanse of the soundstage - they really do disappear. Also the superb dynamics the Bryston speakers have is very surprising to some - very horn like dynamics without typical shouting horn like colouration available in a traditional box speaker.  And of course we continually get asked -"where is the subwoofer hidden".  Its a great demo even if I do say so my self.  :thumb:

You have made my decision even tougher to decide which speakers to purchase.

What is the Canadian MSRP on the Middle T and Mini T in Black Ash?

Model T is at the top of the list but with all the praise of it's siblings I am
beginning to second guess myself.

Hi

The Model T is still the king but I tell people there is no better/best approach with our speakers.

Think of it like a car engine - do you want a 4 cylinder or a 6 or an 8 cylinder - the quality is identical.  It just depends on what volume levels you want at low distortion based on room size and  listening taste.

MEMO: To All Bryston Customers
SUBJECT: Bryston Demo CES Vegas 2016

January 2016

Vegas CES - 2016

HERE ARE SOME ADDITIONAL PHOTOS FROM THE BRYSTON ROOM TO SUPPLEMENT JIM'S VIDEO.

HAD A CHANCE TO TAKE AN EXTENDED LISTEN TO THE BRYSTON MINI T SPEAKERS (FIRST PHOTO) WHILE CHATTING WITH JAMES TANNER.

HE DISCUSSED HOW, WHEN THEY DESIGNED THE MINI T, BRYSTON WANTED TO ACHIEVE A WIDE DISPERSION DESIGN SO THAT THE SPEAKERS WOULD SOUND VERY GOOD WHEN LISTENING OFF-AXIS AS WELL AS ON-AXIS.

TO MY EARS, THE SPEAKERS SOUNDED CLEAN AND EFFORTLESS AND GAVE AN HONEST AND DYNAMIC MUSICAL DELIVERY.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED JAMES!

Hi Al

Yes the demo system is the BDP-2 with BDA3 into the BP26 then out to new 7B Cubed amps and driving Mini T's - all plugged into a BIT 20

james

James,

the 7, 14 and 28 have the ''BIT technology'' inside, correct?? so the reason why i'm asking is if it makes sense to use a BIT for any of these amplifiers...

Correct - other than surge protection no real advantage.

Getting back to the SP3 USB update, so once this becomes available I guess there would be no need for a BDA to get greater than 44.1/16 into the SP3 from a BDP unless you run in bypass to take advantage of the better external DAC or have greater than 192/24 files? With the BDA3's USB input capable of 384/32 why not use that chip or one similar or are you not actually changing the USB chip in the SP3 rather just unlocking the full potential of the existing chip?

Will the USB input continue to be stereo only? It would be great if it's multichannel.

Hi Rod

Stereo only and yes the USB section will be the same as the USB unit in the BDA-3 - the DACs in the SP3 though will remain the same.

Ah interesting about the USB going to be the same, so that would mean then one can input the max 384/32 files (HDTracks offers some 352/24 content) into the SP3 but in reality you'll be limited to 192/24 due to the SP3's DAC's?

Oh, I forgot to ask, how is DSD going to be handled then if the DAC's remain the same, I'm assuming they are not DSD capable DAC's but maybe they are.

Not sure if DSD will be possible still looking at that because it may need a hardware change or DSD 64 only.
