Getting back to audio
« on: 26 Dec 2015, 05:06 pm »
I've decided there's not enough good music in my life.  I still miss my old Paradigm Studio Moitors from grad school about 15 years ago.  Sneaking back in with a Pioneer Andrew Jones speakers, which seem quite reasonable.  I'm also excited by the accessibility of music provided by my new Google Chromecast Audios and Spotify account.  Look forward to learning more.

I got myself a Monoprice hybrid tube amp for Christmas to try out.

I'm also very curious to do some side by side testing the the Pioneer bookshelf speakers against my old Paradigm Atoms.  Good fun.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Welcome aboard!

It's a great time to be a budget audiophile.  Computers via stored memory or online services have replaced CD players, tape decks, and turntables.  DACs are getting cheaper/better all the time.  And lots of options exist to with headphones (with preamp, headphone amp, or combinations thereof); or speakers again with lots of options (active desktop monitor, add a sub later or integrated amp/in-room speakers or all-in-one DAC/integrated/in-room speakers).  Prices for amps/speakers have remained flat over your 15 years away while quality has gone up.
