are usually mostly transformer based. Why could one not come up with a braided type and/or 100 yard coiled power strip to accomplish similar qualities? It should work, right? After all isn't a xformer basically just that if it isnt reducing or adding voltage?
food for thought,

My Elgar voltage stabilizer/ line conditioner does have a massive square transformer, but it also has several large caps, 2 circuit boards with lots of parts, heat sinks, etc.... It's a very complex looking piece of equipment and weighs 78lbs.  Even so, it's RMS output rating is only 7 amps.

Have you guys seen the Final Laboratories' POWER DAMS?  They had two versions, one for less than 1KW and another beyond that.  They manufactured them up to about 1985 and no longer.  Their design is intriguing....Is there anyone else out there that makes this sort of devices.  I doubt that my BPT, is really a line stabilizer.
