Has the same tube compliment as my original Miniwatt/APPJ and it may be be the same amp with the SMPS on the bottom. I think I paid close to $250 for the S1 when they first came out. Amazing little amp with HE speakers.

Although small enough the MW would probably be wasted on most office systems. I like the original MW with Zu, Tektons and Lowther OB's.

Wow, what a great price for a 6J1 + 6P1 amp $99.  @Poultrygeist Thanks for the tip for the massdrop website.  It was such a good deal I bought 2 of the little APPJ mini2013 amplifiers (I might try a bi-amp setup).

I am hoping they are as good as the MiniWatt S1.  I will do a comparison of the components once I receive mine, and let you guys know if I can find any similarities or differences.  The original MiniWatt S1 used Nichicon & Rubycon capacitors, so it will be interesting to see if this later 6J1 tube amp uses the same brand capacitors, transformers etc...

Well I received 2 of these little amps from MassDrop yesterday, shipping to the UK was FAST.  I ditched the stock tubes immediately and put Russian 6P1P-EV power tubes & Telefunken 6AK5 driver tubes in.
In comparison to my original MiniWatt S1, the APPJ mini2013 has just a little more power, and definitely does not run as hot.  I'm running it full volume, with a passive 48 step shunt attenuator in between the DAC & tube amp, some parts of the chassis are slightly warm, unlike the the 'very hot' chassis on my MiniWatt S1
Sound wise the APPJ mini2013 (after 2 days listening) is darker & fuller, whereas the MiniWatt S1 appears to have more clarity and feel brighter 



That's my 2 day overview.
I'm hoping that 'in time' the clarity will improve, with a little more separation in the detail, only time will tell what it will be like once I put some more hours into burning it in 

If anyone else bought this APPJ mini2013, it would be interesting to know your thoughts & initial impressions too ???

I tried several brands of 6AK5/EF95/5645 instead of the factory 6J1 but nothing sounded better than the WE 403B.

Nice looking amp. And for a hundred bucks probably not too bad for sound either?
If it comes up for that price again I'll grab one. It would be nice to compere it to my unison.
I would also like to know more about this amp if any of you guys would like to tell more about it.

Purchased one from massdrop. Tell you what it sounds like in my system when I get it in my system here in Finland. Seems that I have to get some speakercables that have banana plugs on the other end. Got any tips for ones that might suite fullrangers especially?

Standard speaker banana plugs plug directly into the back of the APPJ/Miniwatt. These speaker cables are the DIY White Lightning Moonshines, made from inexpensive Walmart power cords.
