Oppo 105D question
« on: 13 Dec 2015, 09:39 pm »
Hopefully this will be not too unusual of an event.
Out of the blue my Oppo 105D will not recognize my USB drives. Front or rear. The only changes made to the system was a recent Oppo firmware update. When opening the "Music" tab it simple says No disc. When selecting USB in it will not load files or display any folders.
Did a complete system reset without any change or recognition of my USB drives. Tried four separate USB drives which function perfectly on any device (ie Mini, Mac Pro etc) but not with the Oppo.
The USB in always functioned as designed in the past and may have even initially after the firmware update. I occasionally add music to these multiple drives but have not made any property or format changes.
Your thoughts are welcomed.
I have sent several requests to Oppo Support but must be well down the list as no responses yet.

The problem could be with the firware update.
Try Oppo customer service again. I had an issue with my Oppo after the latest update. Sent them a message late Sunday afternoon. They responded in less than an hour.  Best customer service there is!

The couple of times I contacted Oppo support via email, I had an answer in less than an hour.  The one time I called via phone, I had the answer in less than that.

If I am anything I am patient by nature as I have aged. No worries here. Just eager to try something else to rectify. It does seem I do spend a lot of time being a digital embracer lately.
Thanks.

Thanks Bob and Phil.
I think I have a format (FAT 32) which would have been the last thing I would have tried.
 :duh:

I just tried the 103D I have with an attached hard drive (have two 103Ds but the one in the main system is just for video) with files and it played fine (just wanted to see as I did a firmware update a week or so ago);

I'm on the latest  firmware and my 105 sees and plays content from all USB ports, but all my content is on USB flash drives not a USB NAS connection, my NAS connects to a another device (Lumin) in another room.

OK
This was interesting.
Everybody should be careful when using MAC Disk Utility when doing maintenance on their drives. Disk Utility defaults to OS-Extended and not FAT -32.
Please be sure and check FAT or you will load and render your files unrecognizable on your Oppo.
Cheers.
