M & K X100 sub
« on: 12 Dec 2015, 12:26 am »
I recently was given a M & K push-pull 12" sub with a blown driver. It's the earlier version, the X100. Does anyone have experience with this sub? How's  the sound quality? I'm trying decide if its worth renovating. Replacement drivers are available for ~$90.00 ea. shipped.

Thanks

A nice sealed Sub, for essentially $90. ah, yes it is worth renovating. :thumb:
I've had MX-100 & 200, they are usually characterized as  nice "musical " subs.
whatever that means. They don't always play really low or really loud down low ie., <25Hz.
But for most applications they are well regarded. the push pull dual driver design was & is
well regarded.  I copied that design with a Pair of Adire Tempests drivers to good effect.

I picked up the same sub from a HT remodel at work. I have it hooked up as a second sub for music, I have been surprised how clean the bass is. Well worth the effort for music, untested for HT use.

Well, I guess I'll add it to my swarm of subs. :) This will complete the swarm. (2) 6-1/2" Anarchy folded horns that will go to 20 hz. One 12" sealed ACI Titan and the M & K. An oddball assortment indeed.
