I'd stain everything except the flat part of the shelves which I'd cover with black textured vinyl contact paper. HD sells it.
I've covered all but the outer trim on my wooden Yung plate amp frames ( no picture yet ) and the results are striking.
You can see in the amp case pictured below the nice contrast between stained wood and black vinyl contact paper. Most of us
have black gear so using black trim on wood can pull it all together. IMO the best colors to use in audio are wood tones, black
and silver.
