New (old) Audio member

New (old) Audio member

I'm newly here and happy to see all the activity on this forum.

It all began when I walked into a hifi store in Guildford in 1983 and encountered a Linn LP12, Naim Nait, Linn Kan set up playing The Blue Nile "A Walk Across The Rooftops". Blew my mind. I'm still hooked on Brit amps/speakers but none of the above! (Except for the Blue Nile). I favor Stirling speakers, Line Magnetics CD, Quad amplification, Music Hall turntables, DNM wires.

Actually, I DID hear that old system again. I even went so far as to buy a pair of Linn Kans to feed my nostalgia. It lasted about one week before I came back to reality and quickly sold them on......I rediscovered the difference between being impressed by an audio set up and actually listening to music on an audio set up.

I have the Stirling ls3/5a V2, which have, much to my surprise, trounced all other small box contenders I have tried.
