Rollo, your battery is just too small. A bigger amp hour battery will increase dynamics and drive. And sound better across the board.
That makes sense for a battery-powered amplifier, but for a battery-powered preamplifier, which in comparison has relatively low current requirements?Steve
Danny, is this the battery you use for your Dodd preamp? http://www.atbatt.com/power-sonic-12v-100ah-sealed-lead-acid-battery-w-u-terminal.asp?gclid=CJWP5aLcuckCFdKDfgodYgML8gIf this bigger size will improve the dynamics and extend my battery life I'm getting oneThanks
Yep, and that's a really good price on that thing too.
IMO batteries aren't better than a good linear PS anyways. I'd put this kit up against a battery anyday:http://glass-ware.stores.yahoo.net/lvregulatorkit.html
Just a quick question for which I think I already know the answer....but want to verify...I already have a 12v 22AH on my Dodd preamp already, but I want to increase the AH to get a higher capacity to add a DAC. I plan to get one more battery and I will connect it in parallel (not in series!) with my existing battery to maintain the 12v, but this should increase my capacity to close to the 45AH range (assuming the new battery is similar).Thoughts??
That hasn't been my experience, but whatever works for you....
This is particularly an issue when we'd go to a show. The A/C noise at the hotels were really bad. The batteries were dead quiet every time.
