I'm tempted to pick this one up to replace my aging Harmony 670.

I like mine.  Its the first Harmony that was super simple to setup and setup correctly.  I just wish it was backlit

I like mine, but it does not totally replace the 900 it was meant to.

The 900 had both IR and RF.  The Smart has RF.

It likely only matters for guys like me with a media closet (need RF) but also having a TV wall mounted (need/useful to have IR from the remote itself).

A good remote otherwise.

It doesn't have IR? 

I must be behind the times, I thought IR was a standard feature for a remote, didn't even occur to me that this would not have IR.

I have a stockpile of the Monster remotes with IR and RF so I'm covered for a while.

Its RF between the remote and the hub.  It is IR from the hub to the components.  It comes with a few repeaters too in case your components are not in a good location for the hub to communicate.
