No. You're eyesight isn't worse than you had imagined. There is a new TT that uses a laser beam to read the tracks in a vinyl LP. [I'm not promoting this - just throwing it out here for your reading pleasure.]

This table has been around for years. I remember watching a video on it some time ago. For $15,000, I'll go the regular route.....

Hi all,
I have a true story to tell about ELP laser turntable.
About ten years ago, I requested a demo music CD of a previous laser machine that remove - hide
the scratches from a vinyl.
On that free CD they sent me. it showed the difference between none modified original
and modified music with the built in program of the laser reader.
From the CD I received, it was, I would say, 90% scratch free.
Then they advise me that they had produce a laser reader for vinyl,
but it was only for archivage and not for replacing a turntable.
If I remember right, 10 years ago the machine was 5,000 USD ???
From the video, look as if they decided to make their machine a replacement for turntable.
At 15,000 USD, you could say that it's less expensive that some very hi-end turntable...

P.S.
Unfortunately, I don't think I still have the demo CD.
