Fremer is giving listeners a chance to hear the same music mastered two different ways so they can decide for themselves.  And you call him angry and lying???  Somebody seems angry here and it isn't Fremer.

I signed up and paid the $10. I am excited to hear 24/96 v analog tape, both cut to vinyl. The neat thing is that the record will not identify which side is 24/96 and which is analog. I'm definitely looking forward to buying the record and seeing if my ears can tell the difference.

I don't know about angry lying, but results, whatever they might be, will be easily misinterpreted.   The original tape is being mastered on one side in analog (AAA), and digital (ADA) on the other.  This is like a record Wilson made years ago.  I think results will be entirely dependent on either side, by the quality of the mastering, and not necessarily reflect A vs. D SQ. 

Many early digital recordings had better SQ when played as a record (DDD vs. DDA).  There could be a number of reasons for this like better analog equipment.  I think it would be a mistake to draw sweeping conclusions here, but that's what we're likely to see.

I'd bet money the results will be statistically insignificant, even more than that, very few will even claim to hear a difference. Good quality ADDA is 99.99% transparent these days.

I will let it stand for now since no one is being called a liar explicitly.  MF does engender polar reactions from audience but he can stand on his own body of work.  I don't need to defend him.

An additional ADDA loop in my playback did not work out.  It robbed the soul of music away. 

OTHO, I have heard ADA mastered vinyl that sounded as good as AAA from a same performance.  But as Neo says, I don't know how they were mastered or if from a same source.

Tried reading all of the details about the actual masterings, but couldn't find any.

Like others have said, if there is any difference between the actual mastering of each version, that will likely be the difference.

Is there any actual need to do a different master strictly due to the A vs D in the process? I know that CD's are different from LP, plus the whole RIAA thing, but don't know if AAA vs ADA necessitates a different process or levels.

If you collect vinyl, I'm sure you will have enough copies of AAA and ADA LP's to draw your own conclusions. I do have ADA recordings I   find extremely well done and some really thin sounding and anemic, actually a few are a real disaster.  His exercise is not to see which is better ( subjective) but to see if you can hear a difference and determine which side is which ...
