Serenity Acoustics / BG Drivers
« on: 12 Oct 2015, 02:57 pm »
I have given up trying to contact him.  The good news is that I hear he always comes through.  That has eased my mind somewhat, I have already paid him an he has all the materials for my build.
Bueller?... Bueller?... Bueller?....

Could it be he's too consumed with Serenity Acoustics?

Nope, Serenity can no longer get the BG drivers and have called it quits.

 :(

Is there NO suitable substitute driver from ANYONE ????????  :o

What should/would owners of LS-6's/LS-9's do in the event they have a tweeter failure?  I would hope there would be SOMETHING that could be used as an alternative.

I'm working on it. And I have some promising things in the works. I have another meeting this week.

I have held onto some of the custom Neo 8's used in the LS-6 and LS-9. I will not be selling them. They are being held onto as replacement drivers only.

What is the story on BG? Are they out of business?

Maybe related to this?

Actually it was not at all related to that. David Graebener was no longer involved with BG. He sold out his shares of the company years ago.

BG Corp. was actually bought out by Christie Digital Jan. 1 of this year. No more drivers have been released or sold to any dealers, distributors, or OEM's ever since.

Then why did they buy them?

They seem to be into commercial video installations- stuff like large video walls or smaller high quality stuff like medical imaging monitors.  Could be they are looking into adding planar magnetics to their sound options.  They may not be interested in the audiophile market.

Good point. But money is money...

They were a huge purchaser of Neo 3 pdr's and have been using them in their commercial products for some time.

I wonder if a few dozen letters from interested individuals would have any influence on those who make decisions. Any thoughts on this, Danny? [Great timing to get a few letters from Taiwan based audiophiles.]  Heck, I might be able to swing a letter or two from China in the next month or so. :thumb:

They are only interested in working with someone who are willing to purchase large quantity and not in direct competition with them.

They don't care. Our whole industry is small to them.

Okay. Newbie question:

What does it take to design, test, and produce one's own tweeter/midrange? [I'm guessing Joe Sixpack can't invest $25K and six months of R&D to produce something amazing.]

Okay. Naive question finished. :green:

Hey Danny, I hate to be a pain, but any chance you'd consider splitting the thread?  I'd hate to distract Ruben if he happens to drop in...

Thanks!
