My local record store guy knows I'll buy his Blue Notes, so when he got a collection in he called me.
I walked out with 48 lps... all first issues from the '50s and early 60s ...all for $100 I actually feel a little guilty that he didn't know the value of many of these. 
I won't type each title, but here is most of the list.

3 Jackie McLean- BN
2 Hank Mobley- BN
6 Jazz Messengers- BN,Columbia,Impulse,Limelight
2 Freddie Roach-BN

All in VG+ or better.  Some of these are pretty rare, at least according to Discog and ebay price histories. A couple are north of $1K. Don't think I'm likely to run across anything like this again in this lifetime.
I'll be cleaning vinyl and listening for the next week.

Because in Abilene, TX. there is a small market for jazz, and only a couple of audiophiles.  He makes his living off classic R&R (and he knows his stuff in that genre) and selling cheap receivers and turntables. Although jazz brings a slight premium, the local market is only for big names... Miles, Coltrane, Getz, Brubeck, etc., and re-pressings bring almost as much as originals.  There are only a handful of guys in town that have heard of Horace Silver, McCoy Tyner, etc. 
We get some interesting vinyl that comes through his store occasionally... usually tied to the fact that there is an airforce base here, and low cost of living attracts lots of retired military.  I've often told him that his price is low on something, but I don't go into how low.  That's his job; but if he's going to sell me a Rollins "Saxophone Colossus" for $5, I'm not going to argue with him. 

I think I'll roast him some coffee for when he opens Tues morning.

Yes, those are the kind of friends you take care of!   Fresh ground coffee does sound good to me.  I also grind my own beans which are bought from many different sources!
If he likes coffee, that would be a nice thing to do.

Great score! You should take a look at Jazzcollector.com and see the price guide they offer.Those Blue notes have many different pressings and many different prices,if you have certain pressings and they are in VG+ shape you have quite a find.One thing for certain,this is the high and getting higher time for prices for original Jazz records.You might want to invest in Fred Cohen's Blue Note record guide which will tell you exactly which pressing you have.You get this from the Jazz record center in New York.

But Laura, you are always snagging lp's of some rock group that I've never heard of.  My fervent interest in rock died with the plane crash of Lynyrd Skynyrd and has only on rare occasion been renewed.
Jazz on the other hand was something that I had ignored, only to become passionate about later in life, and we all pursue our passions.

I saw the latest iteration of Lynyrd Synyrd this summer.  Johnny sounds a lot like Ronnie and Free Bird might be the best rock n roll concert encore ever written.

Roger McGuinn was originally known as Jim McGuinn, co-founder of the Byrds. He could make that Rickenbacker sing.

Did you pick up Live at Massey Hall 1971? That is a well recorded fantastic live album. All in all, I like acoustical Neil better than electric Neil, but both are good.

Sorry you won't be able to make RMAF this year. I go more to see friends I have met there over the past 10 years, pick up something from Absolute Vinyl and Acoustic Sounds than checking out new gear. I'm pretty much set for life on the gear side.

In the spirit of this email thread, I have to mention something that just happened to me, which falls into the it's better to be lucky than good category.  My best friend, also a long time record collector, in fact collecting for longer than I have, has decided to ditch it all, move back to the east coast and live an unencumbered life.  to achieve that, he had to get ride of his record collection, most of which is classical, but a lot of good, early jazz and some rock.  All in all, I came home with about 12 feet of new (to me) vinyl, which adds significantly to my collection.  I am still reeling from my good fortune, for example, I found a mono 1957 The Buddy Holly Story, on Coral, his greatest hits (volume 1), I found a mono Stan Getz/Jobim/Gilberto (first pressing) of the girl from Ipanema as well as the stereo version, I spent much of saturday listening to various brazilian samba music, how nice.  There is a Mono UK pressing of Revolver, an unopened Abbey Road, and untold classical albums.  His classical taste is exquisite and I am looking forward to spending many hours exploring a classical music collection put together by someone who would know which version of which symphony to have.  His Beethoven and Mozart sections are enormous and I now own over 30 full operas--not sure how I am going to handle this bit, as I am still trying to digest opera, but all in all, I feel pretty lucky and I know how S. Clark feels, it is great to have too much music
