Okay, this is just plain weird. I'm playing a few Black CD's last night through my Bel Canto DAC-1 and they just sound muffled. I took a second pair of IC's and bypassed the DAC and the high frequencies returned (though the sound was flatter). I tried the same CD, but this time the original and there was not any of the muffled sound I heard with the Black CD when running through the DAC. And the sound A-B'd (DAC + no DAC) was much less different with the original CD (maybe richer, perhaps more depth but not MUCH). Any ideas why?
