Hello Everyone!
« on: 14 Sep 2015, 07:30 pm »
Hi Everyone!,
I'm an old semi-retired college professor and have a modest system and budget for my audio hobby. Although this is my introduction to audiocircle, I've been lurking, enjoying, and learning from members for a few years already. My current system (all were purchased second hand except for dac: Primaluna Prologue One, Rega Apollo cd player, Meridian Director dac, Monitor Audio Silver RS6, and LSA 1 monitors) reveals a movement towards a computer based system, which is going well and sounds good to my old ears. Since I have a modest budget, I've recently been experimenting with making my own cables. In progress is a pair of speaker jumper cables (DH Labs Silver Sonic T-14 cable and connectors - purchased off of ebay) and am planning to make a pair of interconnects using DH Labs BL-1 Series II cables. About two years ago I made a three string cigar box guitar for my oldest son who is a musician. With the time, effort, and costs for the tools required to make the guitar I could have bought him a very good six string guitar!!! As I am retiring, I hope to participate more in audiocircle forums. Love the triffid question!

Welcome and congratulations on semi-retirement.  Whipping up some interconnects and speaker wires at home is a great way to start DIY-ing.  Post some pictures when you have some pairs done.

Greetings & welcome rbuc1950. As you know already lots of nice/ knowledgeable folks around here, willing to share their experience.

I'm gonna guess the triffid question is something JohnR cooked up in the sign-up as an anti-bot test ?  Will look forward to you sharing your experiences.  :thumb:

No fair! I didn't get a triffid question when I signed up, but it's okay since I don't wish to start all over again.

Welcome and feel free to get chatty.

Hi Michael and Rich,
Thanks so much for your personal welcome! Don't blame you for not wanting to start over Michael and Rich the DIY projects have been fun and I've learned a great deal but as you humorously point out, in the end they always cost me more!!!
