So has there been any progress on the Apple Remote?

I control my BDP-1 with my iPhone/iPad and computer. Although, it would be nice to have a cheap remote that could control basic functions of the BDP-1. Sometimes the software takes awhile to respond if the system hasn't been touched for some time with the music playing. This is especially noticeable on the Manic Moose on computer.

Any chance I can use an Apple Remote to control BDP-1? Thanks!

Due to the BDP-1's and 2 design, this is not likley to happen.  This was taken into account with the BDP-Pi's design and future designs; to make the ir learn new codes.

I have two BR2 that I like more then any other remote I ever had,
Including some from well known other manufacturer of high end gear
and some so called ergonomic designed.

I wouldn't mind other options to suit all,but with the Bryston PRE/BDA's it serve me fine.

The BR2's are strait forward functional and fine built to last as the gear it serve,
one remote to rule them all!

Never used the remotes on any equipment - simply buy a logitech remote and be done with it. Codes are pretty well already in there and simply need to program it using online interface.

The bryston remote is very overpriced for what it is in comparison.

Gotta respond to this.  I'm a bryston fan. They make superb gear.  I've owned a lot of high end brands and bryston is still one of my top 3 favorites.  BUT, to call that remote "ergonomic" calls into question your understanding of the term.  It is decidedly NOT ergonomic.  It has 28 tiny buttons all evenly spaced and all identical.  That is the opposite of ergonomic.  And it ain't beautiful either.  It's a brick.  If you want to see a remote that actually is ergonomic check out the devialet remote.
I agree. The Devialet remotes are from a different solar system. This is an app for a smart phone that mimics their metal remotes. Maybe that could be an affordable solution (scroll down a little):

Except for less frequently used secondary systems, I do the same.  I have 3 Harmony remotes (and I use one for two systems) and even grabbed a spare Harmony One from Costco on close-out a few years back to have a spare (it is in the box unused).

I'm surprised how many people seem to still be using line of sight IR for remote control.
