Cool looking tube.  Who will be the first one to give it a try? Would look great in an open chassis!

Wow, it would cost me $1500 for a replacement quad for my monoblock amps.  Guess I'll stick with the ones I can afford.

Hi all,
I rarely pay more than 45 USD (each) for this type of tube.

Actually, that is $375 for the pair, so a quad would be "only" $750.

Gulp! 375 bucks for two small tubes,
and they are not even military stuff.
I pay $1.90 each for Russian military.

You were correct the first time.  Each VAC PA-160 amp requires two 6SN7, so four at $187.50 USD each totaling $750 is still too rich for my blood.  Not sure they'd fit because of the balloon shape either.  Oh well, guess I'll just have to wonder.

In my country this is know by only 3 words as:
Se colar colou.
Something like:
If they accept this high price, the price remains high, if not we got down.

Looks like they tried to duplicate the top structure of the Tung Sol Round Plate.  Wonder if it replicates that sound.  Not a bargain by any means.  And will never fit where I would need it to go, but interesting none the less.

Thanks for the post
I was thrilled to be able to pick up a quartet of NOS Raytheon 6SN7's  from a local Craigs List Ad a couple years ago for $40  .

I bet they won't fit in half the gear out there as no 6SN7 has such large glass.

It also looks like the mica plates don't actually support the internals, these may not ship very well....

Good point, DaveC113.  Since the mica only serves as a spacer and element holding device I wonder if microphonics are a problem with this design.  Unless the mica provide some damping effect.

Here I am wondering again.

It would take a very large Herbie's damping ring to fit around that tube to address any microphonics!  :o

For that price there should be zero microphonics.

For this price they would last a century.
Too much profit.

Well, I have ordered a pair of these for use in my preamp. Previously I have been using psvane cv181 TII but got fed up with the poor quality control and microphonics. Delivery is expected next week so I will post my findings after that.

When you research the thread subject tube you will find a review on it that calls out a good tube that was replaced (6SN7 Audio Tubes Gold Pin with Brass Base NOS). I bought that brass base tube on Ebay for $110 for a pair and really like them. Start with Grant Fidelity website. I'm trying to go back in time to find the review. :duh:

So instead of buying the new toy I bought a tube that was thought to be king until this new round globe showed up and went for second place and scored pretty well!

I wonder how they compare to Ming-Da's version they come out with a few years back. They were not bad tubes but not sure they were good enough to be $85 tubes. They did look pretty cool in an open chassis. It will be interesting to see what people comment about these new tubes. Especially in regard to microphonics.
