What titles make you want to get up and ditty bop across the music room floor?

Between cheatin' death and short arm inspections my number one job was getting people to get up and dance.  Through the years I've found that Spencer Davis' "Gimme some lovin' and Jimmi Hendrix's version of "All Along the Watchtower" did the trick. What works for you?

I'm a crap dancer anyway. If the question were rephrased to "What titles make you want to twitch around in your listening chair and make embarrassing movements that you would never voluntarily do in public?" then I could see Watchtower there.

Hmm I thought that's what the question was?  Anyway, I'm stickin' to my answer... 8)

Oddly, I find much of what is labeled as "dance music" uninspiring. Daft Punk, for example. I just don't get it.

I think age has a lot to do with what makes you want to tap your toes or dance to certain songs/bands. Try playing Beach Boys "Do You Want to Dance" to a couple of teenagers now and see how they respond. There are so many different reasons why people respond to music the way they do. :| Rock Lobster is too fun not to move around to!

Sure does. I've got a 2yr old grandson that will dance to just about anything. Play the drums and dance; it's one of the first things man did.

I'm sure age has a great deal to do with it. My elderly relatives in their 80s wouldn't dance to Rock Lobster, whereas me as I am in my mid-30s could be persuaded...  I swear I did not buy that LP when it first came out, my uncle gave it to me many years later. Still, things stick in your head.

My uncle liked Steve Martin too. Oops I mean Miller.

Chicane - No More I sleep

Why? I don't know for sure. It just resonates with me. Maybe it's because it mixes modern basslines and percussions with the 80's new wave type of melodies and chord progressions I grew up with.

Jonny Lang, "Lie To Me"

The whole damn album. The CD sounds incredible, very well produced. Sounds like it was recorded in a club. Really excellent stuff.
