Samsung AV-300: Digital Amps, 250 WPC @ 8 ohms?!

Has anyone heard of this one? I just caught a blurb over at AH, and if it's true the beastie will sport 7 x 250 wpc of digital power (at 8 ohms, no less), DVI & HDMI switching, plus vid upconversion (by Faroudja, no less). Plus a very nice, clean layout, based on the rear panel photo. Supposedly it's due in a few months & will run $3-4k.

I haven't been able to confirm anything, but hell, most of the time a companies' own website doesn't get updated til after you buy the product and get it home!

I'm hoping that the whole digital receiver deal is gonna get ratched up a few more notches.

Well with the coming year, hopefully we'll see a lot more DVI/HDMI switching for one. Honestly, outside of the huge back panel, the thing that caught my eye was simply the brand.

Always like their TVs, but at least here in the US, they don't really have much of a presence for gadgets that integrate with the TV. Have to wonder if they're looking to expand the brand, seeing that receiver, hopping on the slimline upconverting DVD player bandwagon, and touting a Blu Ray disc recorder on their website http://www.samsung.com/Products/DVDPlayer/index.htm

I've never thought of Samsun as an audio brand, but then again I never took JVC or Panasonic very seriously, either, and there's a lot of fans of their digi-receivers. Anyway, it's really more that I hope Denon, Yammie, Onk, etc will follow suit.

At the moment DVI & HDMI aren't issues for me, but they eventually may be.

Likely 7 AV outputs and 4 additional sets for a second zone (Zone A and B) Just a thought.
