Consecutive serial numbers on amps
« on: 26 Jun 2015, 06:53 pm »
Hi;

I'm curious what people think about consecutive serial numbers. Is this something that should be considered when ordering amps to ensure the best match? When buying two monos I already have done this with my 28's however when it comes time for my 7's, I'll be adding three not two and I wasn't initially thinking of doing all three at the same time but I got to thinking about the best possible matching. The plan was to either buy a single 7 for my center then down the road get two for my surrounds or vise versa but in doing this approach there could easily be a year in between purchases as with each amp I have to get cables and I might possibly pick up a BIT-15 for each amp as well, if not for all three then most likely for the two 7's that would power my surrounds as they will be way beyond the reach of a power cord connecting back to my rack.

Thoughts?

Hi

Every 7B has to meet a factory standard so you can certainly mix and match serial numbers without concern

I do think consecutive SN's helps from a phycological point though :lol:

Well, they probably became pretty good friends in the factory, so they'd probably be really happy to go home together.

Otherwise, I can see a reason why I would care about consecutive SNs.

:) Thanks

So consecutive units wouldn't necessarily even guarantee that the true spec'd wattages between the 2 would be more close than to any other units?

Correct - the numbers will vary a little from unit to unit but they all have to better than the minimum spec.
