Joe,

I did not read your post when I posted......that sounds great!!!

BTW- Beer always makes the bass sound better. I won't even tell you what Vodka does

If you have a dvd player...rent UB-571 and If you have bass get ready to rock the house, Especially with the Hsu sub(great sub-btw).

Dr. Hsu taught me years ago that components and wire have nothing to do with creating great bass, music etc.........If you have been to any of his demo's you know what I mean. (Yes, components and wire will effect sound...not meant for this example).

Hey Joe,

Roop came over and modified my system.  He pushed the RM40s back, which I was afraid to do because of imaging (I thought the imaging would be affected because of the RPTV and matching stand).  However, the imaging seems great.  He also lowered both the mids and highs and took some putty off, then raised the highs again.  The system now has as good imaging, but lower bass and better mid-bass.

Roop also brought over some Eighth Nerve products, and they really helped.  They are definitely on my Christmas list!  (In my mind, these change the sound -- for better -- way more than a cable change, for example.)

Let me know when George is coming over.

After hearing a few more systems with RM 40's in them, it is quite clear to me that the speakers want to be near that front wall and that imaging and soundstage don't suffer by doing so.  In fact, the exact opposite happens with this type of placement.

Glad to hear you are enjoying the speakers and I look forward to hearing them.

Everyone gets a different reaction. I got my RM30's on Friday and there is plenty of bass and they are nowhere near a wall. Gonna be breaking them in for a while, but they are already starting to sound incredible.

Larry,

Roop brought Eighth Nerve products (the framed response controllers, here:

http://www.eighthnerve.com/response.html)

All we did was place them about the room, in corners, near the back of my RPTV/Stand, and in front of the RPTV.  They really tightened up the bass (and I didn't listen for any other items because the bass was so pronounced).  To determine this, I listened with the items in place then without, and it only took a few seconds of listening to determine that they changed the sound for the better.  Another recommended product is minitraps:

www.realtraps.com,

but I haven't done a test of these (although George has them).  I plan on using both products in my room, and I'm definitely delaying any additional purchases (like a tube preamp) until I do some room treatments.
