IIRC, the 'why' is that the people behind Blue Circle either also sell shoes or have friends that sell shoes. And because they are silly people.

Actually, those wouldn't work out so well; the pumps work because the opening is very long and allow for good ventilation.

FWIW, I've been trying to convince Gilbert to make some matching electrostat speakers using a pair of women's stockings...

I listened to Gilbert's crazy combo (it came from his wife who sells womens leather pumps) last CES and it really is very good. He had it paired up with a set of 1st generation Aeirial 5's and I enjoyed it very much. It was the perfect setup for the small hotel room they were in and surprised many who actually sat down for a listen.
