Giuliani Carmignola is a violinist with a strong attachment to the works of Vivaldi. He pursues the music with an electrifying passion. He has recorded two Archiv cd's with the Venice Baroque Orchestra, one in 2006 and another in 2008.They are both conducted by Andrea Marcon. The latter is "double concertos",the former, some lesser known works. This music lifts and soars and the violin execution is brilliant. The vitality of this combination is infectious and beckons repeated listening.A more recent work is on DGG from 2013,"Vivladi con Moto". It  is every bit as good, but lacks the brotherhood of the first two discs, only in that DGG tends to wrestle everything into their little terrarium.Vivaldi needs a little air to breathe,to dance, and to flaunt. He needs a peacock like Carmignola to show his colors.

You might listen to his Concerto Grossi in D minor.

What about Albinoni's Adagio?  ...one the absolutely most beautiful pieces of music of any genre.

Also take a listen to Corelli and Boccherini.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Bladesmith,
Maybe you would like La Stravaganza - a serie of 12 Concertos.

This is excellent advice.

Guy's, I'm going to look into all of those.
NOT sure why I dig cellos/violins so much, but i just do. They seem to help me relax. Maybe it's the complexity of the sound, that helps me focus on it and forget the world around me and just sit and enjoy the music.

Thanks again,
Virgil
