Great deal - eventually I might moved what I have on the desktop (and more often than not I just use the speakers in the monitor) to surround duties in another room.  It is really tempting to grab a pair at that price.

I was planning to get new desktop speakers anyway probably within a year.  The (white) B&W LM-1s I have on the desktop are slated for eventual duty in an Atmos/DTS:X  system (where I'll use the in-ceilings as overhead channels and I already have B&Ws up front, P6s as mains - pic below) when I can pick up a deal hopefully early next year give or take on a new receiver.  I have a Marantz 6003 in there now that is many years old.  So this more or less made up my mind.  More than good enough for sporadic desktop duty (had my eye on the Elacs but it's really more than I need as most of the time the speakers are on in the office it is to listen to something I want more than the cheapo speakers in the monitor or for background if I next door to the office in the kitchen - probably a dozen or dozen and a half or so times a year that they will get used).

Sometimes these deals are really short.  When The Squeezebox Touch was current, someone posted about 40% off with free shipping.  Sent it to friend.  Four hours later it didn't work. 

I was going to be in the market for desktop speakers anyway around the end of the year.  So for $44.88 + tax with free shipping I just jumped on it.

For my office, they are a good size as I don't have unlimited room on the desktop.

$300/pair is a bit hard to believe.  Several of the reviews and comparisons I had read in the past suggested they weren't nearly as refined as the Pioneer SP-BS22-LR.

I agree - wouldn't have paid that.  I don't know if they are quite as good as the B&W LM-1s I unhooked.  Those are slated for eventual use in the system I have with B&Ws.
