Hi gang!

Noob to the board with respect to posting. I have a Hitachi HT-20S which I just dug out of the archives.  Super simple operation, pretty meat and potatoes, doesn't sound half bad... BUT it does play slightly slow.  Unlike other turntables I have, there doesn't appear to be any speed adjustment to adjust and compensate for this from the outside.  It doesn't necessarily seem to warble like it is oscillating fast or slow, it is staying pretty consistent with its down-tempo.

Is there a potentiometer or anything inside which would rectify this?  Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi Nick, welcome

Maybe a new belt?  Cleaning the pulley should help too.  You might want to try cleaning the old belt with alcohol while you wait for a new one.

Here's the owners manual:

You can also throw the old belt in boiling hot water for a few seconds, it can shrink it just enough to tighten things up, maybe help with speed. Worth trying, can always otherwise buy a new belt!
