I find "Ampz" with a Z to be condescending.  It sounds like something you'd find at the toy aisle at K-Mart. ..... and that kind of spelling is probably going to turn off more customers than it would attract.

More playing off of "revive," I looked up it's etymology which is:

early 15c., "return to consciousness; restore to health," from Middle French revivre (10c.), from Latin revivere "to live again," from re- "again" (see re-) + vivere "to live" (see vital). Meaning "bring back to notice or fashion" is from mid-15c. Related: Revived; reviving.

Which led me to vital, vita, vitality, viva, vivacity, vigor, vim, verve.  All of those have lots of energy.

My suggestion: you and Gary think of something you really like. Then add "Audio" to it (but not "Labs"), and there's your name. For example:

"We like sunshine" -> Sunshine Audio
"We like squirrels" -> Squirrel Audio
"We like lime pie" -> Lime Pie Audio

Only some things will work. It seems (to me, after working through a few examples) that the "thing" needs to be wholesome, not an activity (fishing, football) or a person, have a personal connection, maybe a bit quirky.

I like the quirkiness of these, but I still contend that it should have some sort of meaning for the consumer.

That tube amp with the chip amp driver stage sounds interesting.  But I'm curious, why make a 4 channel amp?  I can see the function in one if it had some DSP and a digital input, maybe I'm missing the point, but I'd rather have 2x50 than 4x25.  Chip amps can sound absolutely fantastic btw, the good ones can destroy and preconceptions of cost to performance.

Names that are really quirky and playful can be good for less "serious" products. Peachtree pulls it off pretty well, though I I think it works less well with their high end offerings like the Grand series and even the Nova220. I think the PS Audio Sprout isn't bad. The name reminds me of baby products, though. Remember, we're talking about budding audio enthusiasts. The types that would spend $1000 on a piece of gear are likely serious enough to have a decent headphone / desktop setup and may even be into vinyl.

Okay, I'm going to contradict what I said earlier.  I actually kind of like Peachtree Audio as a name despite it's not having any real (rigidly defined) meaning for consumers.  On the other hand, I think Red Wine Audio is a little contrived and pretentious because it has such a connotation.

Associations I have with "Peachtree" are: sweet, wood, slightly quirky/different (which works with their casing designs)

Associations I have with "Red Wine" are: snobbery, classy, delicious, warm, smooth, intoxicating.

Maybe I'll refine what I said before and say that rather than having a meaning (as in definition), but it should have some sort of connotation, and you should be careful with what that connotation is.  If you do random word associations, what words come up?  What does the name bring to mind?

Firebird Audio, for instance made me instantly think of a Pontiac Firebird.

Going with that, Trans Am Audio sounds pretty freakin' bad ass.
