Cables to tone down slightly harsh highs?

My speaker cables are definately the weak point in my system (homemade monsters)  aand I would like to replace them with something in the $200 range that might help me correct some harshness in the treble region.  I'm using a Plinius 8200 mk II with Soliloquy 5.0 speakers.  TIA

karnaaj,

what are you using as your source?

in the $200 range, i highly recommend the CryoTweaks Trinity SC...depending on length, it's btwn ~$150 to ~$200

Mike of CryoTweaks posts in the MarketSquare from time to time...

www.cryotweaks.com

he offers a 30 day trial period and on top of that he's a nice guy...

Karnaaj, what interconnects are you using? also what power cord are you using w/ your Plinius? These as well as your source may be contributing to the harshness as well...

Actually, the review covers both the Twisted Pair interconnects and speaker cables. At those prices, he could afford to try both!

I think you want EQ or tone controls.  Cables to do the job of an EQ is a piss poor work around IMHO.

Buuuuttt...if you must, what you want is a design that adds slightly higher capacitance than what is normal.  Shielded cables would be a good thing here.  I am speaking of IC's of course.   Hint: star quad geometry is 1.5 times the capacitance per unit of length than twisted pair, which is higher than coax (sometimes).

Didn't think you were.

First fix your obvious problems before dealing with cables and other mundane fixtures!

So Josh, are you saying that a better set of cables can't improve his high end?

In answer to your question, the Groneberg Quatro might just be your ticket.

Klaus at Odyssey sells it.

actually I gave his a path for finding the cables that could "improve" his high end.  I just don't know whether I beleive that is really an improvement if it is just masking harshness that exists in the system.
