I just stumbled across this piece on the Rowland website. On paper it looks like the ultimate statement piece out there. Does anyone here have any knowledge or experience to share? At a projected $38,000 it needs to be awfully special but, then again, it does include or preclude a lot of pieces so it may be worth it to some of us. I'm mighty tempted but that's a big lift for a guy like me.
Silly price, this is a house or apto value.Dont walk, run from this brand.
Of course JR amps are outstanding, the best SS amps I listen was a Model 1.But the price are much bigger than the amps worth, mainly with affordable SET tubes amps rousing everyday on the market.
Now, I have to agree with this.OTOH, I think there is other people who prefer SS over tubes so...
Here's a link: http://jeffrowlandgroup.com/us/daemon-integrated.htmlA friend of mine was at the Munich show. He says that there were quite a number of elite integrated amps shown but that the Daemon was clearly the show stopper. He's got more than a million dollars worth of equipment in his sound room and deals only in world class product. I've been close friends with him for over 20 years now and trust his opinions. I just thought I'd check in with you guys to see if you could offer me any additional insight. Sooooo ----- how 'bout it?
Hugh - I can definitely follow your thinking about "for the money" in the case of a DAC. Those things depreciate like computers and at nearly $10,000 no DAC is good enough to work in my program. An integrated amp, on the other hand, can outlive the significance of depreciation because a good one is potentially good enough for life, especially when you are over 65.
I decided to call the Rowland factory. Talked to Kelly as usual. She informed me that the final price has not been set and that the Daemon will probably not ship before late summer. Trying to be on top of things got me way out in front. My Continuum S2 ships out next week so it looks like I'll be using my Yamaha A-S2000 for a while. Of well, worse things have happened to better people.
How can you go wrong with an amp that defines... creative genius; driving force; messenger between the gods and man; trouble-maker?
