That should be pretty rad! Not cheap though. What are your plans for it?

Be careful, you may get a electric shock on your new bike.

Pretty darn cool. I'd use my car less if I had one of those.

Very nice bike.  It seems a little heavy at 58lbs.  If they cut the weight down to under 40lbs it would get better range and handle better.   Getting rid of the unnecessary suspension fork and that seat would drop it down to 50lbs or less.

Congrats on the bike!

My plans for it are around town errands and exercise.  I live where there are a lot of red lights and I just waste tons of gas with the car getting from place to place.  They even threw this rack top bag in as a bonus.

I think bikes like this make so much sense, especially for short urban commutes. With the electric motor, one wouldn't show up at work all hot/sweaty. Plus there's no need to gear-up (other than a helmet), just to casually ride it here and there. I hope stuff like this becomes the norm and as a society we can move away from our cars 50% of the time. Very cool.

It is a cool idea.  I tried biking to and from work for a while, but it took me about 1:40 from work to home and about 1:20 from home to work (difference between a lot of uphill and a lot of downhill).  I used to drive in with my bike one day, then ride my bike home.  I'd bring my second car in the next day, and the third day, I'd ride my bike in and drive the first car home.  Now, I can't do that, as I have only one car.  I'm also definitely no longer in good enough shape to do 3+ hours of commuting by bike per day.

In an urban area or if you lived closer than I do, this bike could be great.

I like the looks of the Evelo but this is the bike I'm buying:

A bit heavier and more expensive than the Evelo but I think it will prove to be a better match for me.

Cheers,

An update on the Evelo Orion.  I've been riding for two weeks now.  Getting acclimated to an electric bike was a bit tricky but once mastered its a joy to ride.  I zip around town with a huge smile on my face, very enjoyable. :D  The ride is smooth and the electric motor supplied gets the rider to go further and further.  Hence the rider gets more of a work out.  I compare getting this ebike to receiving my Omega Hoyt Bedford Type 1 speakers from Louis.   Love them both.

Nice! 250 watts is quite a bit of power especially if you can augment it with leg power. Looks like a lot of fun!  :thumb:

Most riders don't put out 250w unless they sprint or go up a hill, and maybe not at all. I cranked 600w on a machine once, without it being setup for me or anything. Track racers can hit over 2kw.

Somewhere after 220w or so, things become a real workout even for pro people.

You might be faster than a car on that thing, depending on the time of day!

You'll need to add the Whelen LINZ6 Super Blue LED AND Yankee rear plate.  Bike is now complete.
