Anyone heard a Blue Circle BC26MKII compared to the BC28?

I plan to buy 1 of these 2 amps and am looking for feedback.

The BC26MKII is in my system on loan now and it sounds incredible.

I will not be able to hear the BC28 so if you can comment on these 2 amps that would be great.

Not interested in any other amps.

I would stick with the BC26II, especially if it sounds incredible.
Go with the known.

I have been watching for a used BC26 on Audiogon for the last 10 months. They NEVER come up. That has to tell you something.

The BC28 comes up every couple months or so.
I bought one. Sold it 3 months later.
Not a bad sounding amp overall. But finding the "perfect" 6922 tube drove me nuts.
Always a compromise somewhere - bass, mids, body, soundstaging, imaging, etc. NOS 6922 are getting crazy expensive as well - $300 to $400 per pair. I am done with tubes (for now)

From all accounts the BC26 has "tube like" body and imaging.
I would love to audition one. I think it has a bunch more power than the BC28 as well.

Why did you sell the BC28?

Can you comment on the sound, what you liked what you did not like?

As far as power goes my speakers are 98 db 1 watt so 100 watts would cover it.

I am using seperate amps for bass below 60Hz. The line arrays are handling from 60 Hz up

Sorry, I thought I was being clear.

I got tired of messing with tubes is the reason I sold the BC28.
Could never quite dial it in.

I have heard the BC26 running some Focus 888's at Philnyc's and it is a monster! It had gobs of power, quick w/ transients, and overall very pleasant and neutral. If you want a very clear picture of the differences of both these amps, I would shoot him a pm to philnyc here on the circle as he sells both. He would be able to answer your question accurately.

The BC26MKII I have is from Phil.

Phil has provided his opinion. Just looking to hear from others that have heard both amps since people tend to like different things.

Either way I am buying a BC amp from Phil. He is a great guy to work with.

Well I just purchased the BC26MKII

If you like smooth, full bodied, powerful, well controlled sound this amp is a must hear.

Phil's a great guy and carries great products. We have very different views on audio sometimes, but I equally respect his views. I have heard the BC gear a few times at Phil's place, in a couple of different iterations. Great stuff, tons of imaging, width and depth of stage as good as I've heard anywhere. I can't comment on the different amps (although I may have heard both) but I probably wouldn't disagree with Phil's assessment.

I believe Phil liked the BC28 for his personal system.

Since amps and speakers require synergy I provided impedance curves and specs on my speakers to assist in the decision.

With the feedback I received + the sound in my room it was an easy call.

Others may like the BC28 better. It all depends on preferences and related components.
